GET IN TOUCH

Are you familiar with the drywall finishing process? In case you aren’t, you are trying to cover the cracks between drywall pieces. Finishing starts after drywall is done. This process is also known as taping and mudding in the building field.

Specific tools are used in drywall finishing to make the work perfect. We recommend that you let a professional do the drywall repair and finishing job for your house. However, if you want to do it yourself, then you will need these tools.

Mixer Paddle.

This tool works when connected to a power drill, and it is used in mixing the mud or compound used in drywall finishing. The tool helps in removing lumps to ensure smoothness in the joint compound. It is advisable to use a small mixing paddle together with a three eighth inches drill if you do not have experience in using this tool. Experienced constructors prefer larger mixing paddles with a drill of about one and a half inches drill.

Hand Drywall Sander.

The tool is used in both sanding the joints and generally in sanding projects. It comes with a soft, comfy handle, thus making it easy to use. It removes imperfections and bumps in the dried compound to give a better finishing. The hand sander is better than a sponge sander because its screens are replaceable once they wear out.

You can opt not to replace the wool tool because once you replace screens, it will go.

Drywall Joint Compound.

Drywall joint compound is all about creating a smooth finish. It is used as the last one after the drywall tape has been fixed in the wall. The joint compound should give a new result as time goes by. The joint compound solution may need water to settle to the best consistency to provide the best finish.

After making the best consistency, the work is almost done because you just need to apply the compound on the wall and let it dry.

Drywall Sanding Blocks.

Drywall sanding blocks are made of wood or cork though they can be made of various materials and have one flat side. They are used to hold sandpaper while finishing and are sized to keep half of the sandpaper. The sandpaper is used to wrap the block and store it in place. It is advisable to use cardboard under the sandpaper to prevent an impact on the wood that leads to the sandpaper wear out.

Mud Pan.

It Is an essential tool in drywall finishing. Mud pans are made of different materials, but their main purpose is to carry the joint drywall compound. The mud pans come in different types, but it is good to purchase stainless steel ones. The shorter the pan, the easier it is to use.

This is because the pan will be lighter, and the drywall finisher will manage to carry it always as they do.
